In 1977, 8-year-old Arthur Noske was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend, Dr. Stuart Kutler, who had failed at trying to burn his corpse. Kutler eventually agreed to a plea of manslaughter, but refused to tell authorities where the boy's remains were.

In the 1942, in an Akron-built Goodyear blimp delivered to the Navy after the start of WWII, a two-man crew set out over the Pacific from San Francisco for a short four-hour patrol in search of Japanese subs. The blimp returned. The crew did not.
